Matt Forte , the endgame seemed clear. The Bears would place their franchise tag on him before his contract expired in March 2012, a move that would enhance the Bears' flexibility at the position but eliminate his options for seeking a payday elsewhere.

I'm confident Caleb can do an excellent job
Why? Why couldn't Jay Cutler stay healthy? Why did Matt Forte have to get hurt, too? And Johnny Knox? WHY?
He has to understand that these last five weeks it hasn’t all been about Jay Cutler; Jay Cutler has played good football, but so has the defense, so has Matt Forte, they’ve run the ball extremely well and they’ve protected upfront.
To me, the whole game comes down to the front four. The front four has to dominate the line of scrimmage. With Cutler out, it will be Matt Forte. If they can stop Matt Forte and dominate the running game and also special teams that will be a huge factor in today’s game.

This guy Matt Forte is a really good football player
As we all know, they have one of the best running backs in the league right now in Matt Forte ... They did lose Cutler, but they feel confident in the quarterback they have coming in that we were able to watch some film on him. He’s able to make some pretty good plays for them in the past so we know we’...
It's a difficult situation but we have full confidence in the guys stepping up ... Caleb is an excellent quarterback who knows exactly what he is doing out there, and our new long snapper should be fine. He's has been in this league for a long time. Matt Forte has been making a real impact. This gives u...
Maybe Jay's biggest play of the game came on that Cutler cleared the way for teammate Matt Forte to complete the tackle, prevent a San Diego touchdown and preserve the Bears' lead. Who would have thought we'd be talking about Matt Forte and Jay Cutler on the defensive play they made
We'll lean on it even more. We've had over 30 rushes (per game) for a period of time now. We have a great player in Matt Forte. Our offensive line is playing well.
Well they’re playing well. He’s relying on this defense getting turnovers and field position. He’s relying on his running game and Matt Forte. He’s not feeling like he’s got to force every ball.
Who would have thought we'd be talking about Matt Forte and Jay Cutler on a defensive play they made?
Maybe Jay's biggest play of the game came on that interception, buying time for Matt Forte
