Matt Cassel was Brady's backup for three years, had a good season when he replaced the injured Brady in 2008 and then was traded to Kansas City, where he signed a six-year, $63 million contract. He has had one good season out of his three with the Chiefs.
Our view: Flacco has not yet lived up to his potential as a pro QB and the Ravens are in a spot where they must extend him now so he doesn't get away in free agency. The Chicago Bears could place the franchise tag on impending free-agent RB Matt Forte...

It's a process with the foot with all the wait and all the stuff you got to do moving around side to side, laterally, but it will be fine ... I'm not worried about the rehab process. We're going to just jump right in and continue to progress as I have already.

Now that Allen is a free agent, it’s time for the Texans brass to move on from their 2010 first-round bust Jackson and look for other options at CB2 to further solidify the team’s secondary. Oct 30, 2011; Houston, TX, USA; Houston Texans quarterback...

With Matt Schaub, Jay Cutler and Matt Cassel all going down with potential season-ending injuries, it got me thinking: Should the NFL move back the trading deadline to later in the season? It could help save some teams' seasons and could give a chance for teams already out of it to start stocking picks ...

The one thing that I’ve observed, I’ve been in this type of offense now … all the way back into my college days. T.J., for being a rookie, he’s probably picked this offense up to the point where he can function in it well, faster than anyone I’ve seen, including myself, including a lot of players that I...
I think that’s very important ... It’s part of my job. It’s part of how I view the game and view my position to be there for the guys, whether I’m able to play or not. It’s important for me to be out there, important for me to be there on game day, to not just help the other quarterbacks, to help out gu...
Once I talked to everyone, there really wasn’t an option out there other than to get it fixed ... It’ll be six to eight weeks of non-weight bearing and stuff. It’s something that it’s not a quick turnaround as far as rehabilitation, so it’s going to be an offseason getting ready and getting right for tr...
We’ve shared a lot ... He’s asked me about getting ready for the game within this offense, how to view the game from my perspective and about certain plays in certain situations, how to attack them. He’s played enough football. It’s not too big for him. I think anybody, though, guys who play 10 or 11 ye...
It's not a quick turnaround, as far as rehabilitation
Once I talked to everyone, there really wasn't an option out there, other than to get it fixed for the long term
After all the hard work I’ve put in and this team’s put in, this organization, to get to this point – with six weeks to go, we’re 7-3 and what’s in front of us – that’s the frustrating part, to not see it through with my team
He's been around enough football
It's tough to take ... It's frustrating. The team's having such a good season, and they're going to continue having a good season. It's unfortunate that it had to end this way, but for the long run, it's best to get it fixed.
The team is having such a good year and they’re going to continue to have a great year. It’s unfortunate that it had to end this way with my foot injury, but for the long run it’s best to get it fixed. It’s a Lisfranc injury, along with a couple of other small fractures.
I’m definitely going to be out there helping ... Anything short of having a headset on and calling plays, I’ll be out there doing. Just to be there with the guys helping everyone out, helping Matt [Leinart] out, helping T.J. [Yates] out. That’s what my role is going to be and I’m going to do it to the b...
I’m definitely going to be out there helping, anything short of having a headset on and calling plays, I’ll be out there doing
I tried to search all options to try to find a way back to play –- anything we could do -– but in the long run, it probably wouldn’t have held up ... I kind of expected this, but I wanted to get a feel for what (the specialist's) thoughts were and make a decision from there.
This isn’t his first rodeo ... He’s played some football in this league. He knows how to play the quarterback position. Our time spent together here over the last year and a half, two years, he’s definitely prepared.
It doesn't look good. My foot is pretty much the size of a cinder block right now
