View Photo »Everton were in the bottom three for a while, but they didn’t look like a team that could get relegated to me ... There’s a subtle difference. You can look back at our performances and think that we did all right in them — we created seven chances against Chelsea, but we didn’t score any and let four in...
We’ve all moved on from Saipan – Niall Quinn, Mick McCarthy, the FAI and all the players – but it seems to me that he (Keane) hasn’t. It’s time to forget about Saipan and move on – because everyone else has.
I was bitterly disappointed and upset about what happened in Paris (but) the saddest thing is we would have all taken it if it had happened for us. We’d have watched the World Cup if it was Ireland and forgotten about it. It’s a sad indictment on all of us that we accept it.

If I was Richard Dunne I can tell you that Thierry Henry wouldn’t have sat by me (at the end of the game). I’m 50 now, I’d shake Raymond Domenech’s hand, but 20 years earlier, Henry would not have sat by me, not a snowball’s chance in hell, knowing what he had just done.

I said FIFA stands for Forget Irish Football Altogether when I was manager.
We've got Birmingham after that ... Let's see if we're better than the teams around us like Hull and West Ham and Portsmouth.
Sylvan was always playing against Arsenal, whether Chris was injured or not ... He was left out purely tactically at Stoke.
Sylvan’s a goal threat and he’s getting closer ... He had two or three good attempts at Everton – not clear-cut chances – but good attempts he made himself. He’s had one real chance – against Portsmouth – but even then there were loads of bodies in his way and it came at him really quickly.

FIFA are entitled to do it. I had it with Geroge McCartney. He didn't go with Northern Ireland. He was injured and missed the game and was banned for the next match.

Richard Stearman, Chris Iwelumo, Jody Craddock and Matt Murray are out training
I know Paul Hart well, but I’m not happy for him. I can’t be. I wanted to heap more misery on him today. Sympathy is in short supply here
He felt it against Manchester United and thought it was a bit of swelling. He tried to train in the build-up to the Sunderland game but it wasn't right.

I tried to sign Darren when he was at Ipswich. He's a good player and a very good striker. But I think it had already been done at the time and he was going to Charlton. I inquired.
The game has been decided by one great bit of quality ... I think Manchester United need that squad because they will compete in every competition. Other teams won't be competing in four competitions; we won't, anyway.
