View Photo »Helm had a great game (against Florida Friday, eight shots on goal) ... Abdelkader is playing better. Leino is playing on a top line and on the power play, and Howard's been good for us. The team is growing. But we're going to be in for a battle, no question about it.
It was becoming fairly clear fairly quickly that Savard and Bowman were not engaging in the same positive relationship that Red Wing coach Mike Babcock enjoyed with Bowman in Detroit
I like the way we played. We had good energy from our guys. Did a lot of really good things. We had (the Panthers) down for having eight scoring chances the whole game, and two on the last play. The bottom line is we played real well and didn't have the execution at their net that we'd like to have. If ...
Everybody makes mistakes ... You know you can't pass the puck by Rick Nash. You can't pass the puck by Getzlaf. You can't pass it by Hank (Henrik Zetterberg) or Pav (Pavel Datsyuk) either. So you just don't. All it takes is one of those goals and you get that figured out fast.

Last year is the only year since I've been in Detroit that we could get away with sleepwalking ... We weren't engaged defensively in the first half of the season. We could score, though, so we could get away with it. We're different now. The margin for error is so small now in the league, and that goes ...
We kind of cheer for both teams because London is right in the middle ... The Red Wings are a powerhouse team, for sure, a great team. The Maple Leafs have made bad draft picks so I think it's a positive that they hired Brian Burke to run the team. They've got the right guy. But the Red Wings are a firs...

I imagine they looked at us like we looked at them ... Without (Marc) Savard and (Milan) Lucic, they have big-time players out of the lineup - no different than us.
I think the guy who's got a chance right now is Abby, because he can play on a line with Brad May, who'll look after him ... He can run around and be physical and do what he needs to do and maybe get comfortable. The coach doesn't make you comfortable and your teammates don't -- you've got to make yours...
We hope it’s nothing major ... But what we’re concerned about is that’s what happened in Edmonton. It was nothing major in the morning and suddenly, by night, it was.
Pavel at the start of the season was one of the guys -- he and Fil (Valtteri Filppula) -- that were rolling, so let's not get too much into (Datsyuk's slow start) ... I thought Pav was playing well in the two games overseas, and he did a great job in the first game back. I'm not concerned about Pav one ...
He looks for real to me. He did things in the two games that I watched that you're not allowed to do unless you are Pav (Pavel Datsyuk) or Z (Henrik Zetterberg)
I think Helmer is ready to go ... If Grand Rapids (AHL) was playing today, he'd be playing in Grand Rapids today. But now we would have to wait until the weekend. We'd like to get him in (before that).
We got the crap run out of us (by the St. Louis Blues) in Europe. He gives us some swagger
We scored some timely power-play goals, and then I thought we looked like a team that hadn't won this year there in the third period, a little too defensive and on our heels and let Chicago come at us ... It was a big win for our team, takes some pressure off. Now we can get playing.
After that, I thought we looked like a team that hadn't won a game ... In the third period, we got a little too defensive and Chicago came at us. That's what happens when you haven't won a game.
I thought two years ago the rivalry with (Chicago) was really good and last year it got better ... Any time you play a team in the playoffs, it's good. They've got a lot of kids and they are getting better, so it should go to another level this year. Their franchise is rolling right now. They had 19,000...
Sometimes your team can win without great goaltending ... but St. Louis played real well in both games. They were the better team. They took the games over two nights in a row.
I thought St. Louis played really well in both games ... I thought they played hard for 60 minutes in both games and I thought they were the better team in both games. The bottom line is we got to get better. We just got beat two nights in a row and anyway you look at it, they're two up and we' re two d...
