View Photo »It’s not just our terminology or our system. I think we do a number of different things relative to personnel groups
As for Mike Shanahan, he experiences the same problem that I face — a weekly decision of a quarterback that causes daily pains. Here in Seattle, out west, it helps to listen to my favorite Pearl Jam song, 'Better Man,' and think of my favorite actor, Slim Pickens, while making that decision.
Regardless, if you’re up or down, Rex is pretty consistent
I think he’s even more confident now
When you play in the 3-4, they do so many things to try to hit you from so many different directions ... Sometimes it will be a center setting you up by taking off; it looks like he’s missing a block. And maybe a tight end will be blocking you one play, a fullback or Tiger-man will be blocking you on an...
That's what you're in this game to do, is to win
I was a little bit surprised, I think he was a little surprised. He wasn't ready for that because nobody does that and it probably caught him a little bit by surprise ... I don't think anybody is going to catch him by surprise anymore. They might do that once but it's not going to happen again. If you w...
You take a look at 12 possessions, you take a look at eight three-and-outs when they're averaging four yards per carry, the other one was five plays for 13-yards ... They have two drives the whole game and the last one happens to be 95 yards. I'd say you feel pretty good about the way you played defense...
Sometimes it's a tough decisions --- do you go with a young guy like Graham? Is he going to keep on getting better or is he not going to take advantage of opportunities? I don't know
It's always difficult to accomplish what we did today, this is a hostile environment ... I was proud of our whole football team.
He’ll go through some tests in the next couple of days and we’ll see where he’s at
This game had nothing to do with Graham Gano ... The other two games did have something to do with Graham Gano. Hopefully, he takes advantage of those opportunities that are presented to him in the future, and if not, then obviously he won’t be with us.
We’re going with Graham ... It really had nothing to do with Graham, with the missed field goal or the missed extra point. That was totally on our protection scheme.
I was defenseless ... It’s football, he took advantage of it. He did what he’s supposed to do, I guess. I wasn’t happy, but it’s football. He got a good shot.
The back judge called the penalty and the side judge, who had a pretty good look at it, did not ... There was a discrepancy there.
Well, I think everybody saw that one pitch out to him that he jumped over a defender and broke a tackle – probably the difference in the game ... But you have to have those type of plays in the NFL to win. I was really impressed with Helu and how he handled himself throughout the game, not just on that ...
You could see some elusiveness, some power. You saw some speed ... That’s what you look for in a running back and you could see he played with a lot of confidence yesterday … He really took advantage of his opportunity.

You throw a lot at a younger player, especially with no [organized team activities], and you put a lot of pressure on him, especially in our scheme
He got tough yards ... He broke tackles. He made some people miss. You could see elusiveness, some power. You saw some speed. That's what you're looking for in a running back. He played with a lot of confidence.
We felt Helu was playing at a very high level ... We're going to go with the guy with the hot hand. We felt Helu was feeling good and running the ball extremely well. He made some guys miss, ran with power, came up with the big play and that's why we kept him in.
He's our starter, for sure
We're going to go with the guy with the hot hand
You can see he got some tough yards ... He played with a lot of confidence. He knew he was going to be the guy. We told him he was going to have the workload, and he really took advantage of his opportunity.
