It wasn't any great plan on my part ... We loved it and we had success in the NCAA Tounament in 2005, in finishing a close game against Florida and then playing a close game against North Carolina. Then, in 2006, we weren't going to do it, but Curtis Sumpter got hurt, so we said let's go back to it and ...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that's the case ... We just made an application for him (to the NCAA) for that possibility.
USC hasn't self-reported (any violations) and has retained his entire coaching staff. Floyd said that he has cooperated with both the NCAA investigators and the federal prosecutors in the investigation into Guillory's charity foundation. I don't feel we did anything wrong
Not only do we respect East Tennessee State for what they're doing this year, but they were an NCAA tournament team last year that almost beat Pittsburgh
The Miami game is important to how Minnesota's NCAA tournament profile is going to look in front of the committee
is it is the first week in December. I don't think these games have a tremendous effect on what takes place in February and March. There have been years where we've dominated, and yet the Big Ten has had more teams in the NCAA tournament. I think it depends on what you do from here on out after this gam...
There are teams that have earned the right to be a powerhouse, and Duke has earned that right on the court with what they've done ... I think our players have earned the right to have some things said about them, too, and the teams here, especially since going to the NCAA tournament in 1994, Wisconsin's...
If Charley hadn't gotten into trouble with the NCAA, I really felt like Charley was one of the best coaches I've ever been around ... He was a miniature Bear Bryant.
We have had a really rough stretch here and I think that we have accomplished some good things ... We have a tough one ahead of us right now with North Carolina A&T. They are in the NCAA Tournament year-in and year-out and they have really good athletes.
NJIT, when I first got there, had just gone into a conference and we really didn't have anything to play for at the end of the year ... It was an independent tournament, but after that it was kind of like our season was done. With American International you've got to win a certain amount of games to pla...
That’s what Boston College does ... There is a reason they beat Duke and North Carolina and got to the NCAA Tournament. They’re very good in their half court sets, they’re physical, they run good offense and execute well. We knew that going in and if it got into a half court game, we’d be in trouble.
East Tennessee State is another team that was in the NCAA Tournament a year ago
This was a great team effort ... It was a revenge game for us because Mississippi State put us out of the NCAA tournament in March. This was a chance for us to show how much we've grown as a team.
It's fundamentals ... They come in for rookie camp in the summer and I work more with them then. It's tough now. The kid (Oliver Lauridsen) I'm working with at St. Cloud State (in Minnesota) is in college, and you want to make sure you don't step over those boundaries with the NCAA.
This field is the best field in the country of any tournament ... We're going to play a very good Portland team who I think will play in the NCAA Tournament.
Creighton was on the (NCAA tournament) bubble with us last year. We ended up getting in, they didn't ... They lost only one player off that team (Missouri Valley Conference player of the year Booker Woodfox), so on a neutral court, it's going to be a great basketball game.
We don’t have to beat Missouri to go to the NCAA Tournament ... We’ve got to lay down the law and guidelines now.
I’m pretty happy with where we are right now ... Our schedule just keeps getting tougher and we have to be ready to go. Iona returns all five starters as does Western Kentucky and both could be NCAA Tournament teams again this year.
There is propaganda being thrown at 15 and 16 year old kids in the U.S. and Canada and that can’t be offset by us because, according to NCAA rules, we can’t talk to kids 15 and 16
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA, often read "N-C-Double-A") is a voluntary association of about 1,281 institutions, conferences, organizations and individuals that organizes the athletic programs of many colleges and universities in the United States (and, potentially, Canadian universities as well). There will be eight teams there that will be NCAA (tournament) teams ... It has the best field of all of the tournaments. I think most people think so.
I don't think it was the NCAA's intention at the time, but they anointed ESPN king of the [early-season tournament] world from one day to the next
This has definitely generated a lot of excitement in the area ... In the first few months, we got a lot of phone calls and e-mails. High school coaches were excited that there was going to be competitive NCAA volleyball in their area.
The biggest thing an NCAA tournament would do is bring more interest ... It would make volleyball seem more real to a lot of people who might not be involved.
I can't foresee the future ... I don't know what Dayton's going to end up doing, but I know they're a good basketball team. No one knows what's going to happen between now and March, but if they stay healthy, I think that's a team that's solidly in the NCAA Tournament.
This will give us a look at Big East-type basketball, NCAA-type basketball
Oakland's pretty good. If I'm not mistaken, they won their league last year and they had North Dakota State beat in the championship game, or that probably would have been our opponent in the first round (of the NCAA tournament)
We are honored to be part of the Frisco effort selected by the NCAA committee to advance in the process, and look forward to making the case for Frisco as the ideal location for the NCAA Championship ... They have a tremendous tradition and reputation ... They’re a very good team, whether they’re at home or on the road. … It doesn’t take motivation because this is an NCAA team we’re playing, and we’ve got to bring our best.
We have a highly talented group of returning players, from a Big East championship and NCAA Super Regional team, that will carry the load for us in 2010 ... And we’ll see which newcomers can make an immediate impact for us.
