It’s frightening ... Ad I’ve always said our league is great for fans and the media, but it’s a brutal league for coaches to keep on winning. Now I think everybody will be taking a shot at us because so much has been written about our league. But the great thing is there is a tournament to decide a national champion at the end of the year.
Who’s the hardest working team in the National Hockey League? ... Well, in the past I’ve been able to say without any question, here. I don’t think that’s the case right now.
There’s a top tier of teams in the National Football League, and the Patriots aren’t in it
I told our bullpen coach he had a good chance to go six or seven innings, because he was great in the bullpen ... Sometimes you feel good in the bullpen and you don't do it great in the game.
To me, they're like a school of sharks, kind of on the prowl ... And if you can keep - kind of keep them all separated in the pool, you know, it's a great way to go after them. But when they kind of swarm together and they see the blood in the water, I think they attack and they do a very good job of it.
I was there just in case anything happened ... I just wanted to go out there and protect my teammates. I don't fight nobody. I'm a lover.
Pitching and pitching inside and moving the ball around is all part of the game ... But at the same time, you start throwing the ball up around people's heads or like around their face, that's no place in baseball for that.
The one thing you don't want to do ... is feel like you're getting pushed around with the other team thinking they can do whatever they want, and you're not really going to stand up for yourself.
I think we needed it for ourselves, for our confidence, that we're not going to be pushed around ... Sometimes you have to make a statement, and we did that today.
I made some pretty good pitches in the first inning and they hit them, and one really poor pitch to DeWitt ... One game doesn't make or break your career. Obviously, it's the playoffs and it's magnified even far more. You got to handle it professionally and deal with the ups just like you deal with the downs.
I can't fault them in that. Nobody wants to get hit in the head ... That's certainly frightening. I've been hit a couple of times. I'm not sure that that was the intention, even though the pitch was there. Again, you try to throw a ball inside and sometimes it gets away. But certainly there was no intent on hurting somebody in that area. That I can tell you for sure.
