Edsall was 2-10 in his first season. It was just the second 10-loss season in Maryland history. (Associated Press) College athletics is sashaying toward a tipping point. I say “sashaying” because it suggests a certain obliviousness, a lack of...

Terrapins coach Randy Edsall has decreed former quarterback Danny O'Brien can't transfer to a list of ACC schools and regional rivals that for some reason includes the Vanderbilt Commodores. Maryland and Vanderbilt don't play each other, so there's no...
If a grown man can go wherever he wants, with great compensation, during a career spanning decades, it seems perhaps a bit petty to keep a kid who’s playing for free from enjoying the same privilege. In any case, Comcast SportsNet’s Chick Hernandez put...
The latest is former ACC Freshman of the Year Danny O’Brien. I am by no means ready to give up on Edsall. He deserves a chance to see what he can do with his players. That said, this doesn’t look good. All these players, and he had to fire both his...

Randy Edsall should be fired — today.
Vanderbilt? Yes, Vanderbilt, which is not in the ACC and not on Maryland’s schedule. Now that’s an uncommon stipulation in a transfer situation. Since Maryland coach Randy Edsall has not revealed his reasons for the Vanderbilt ban, it has ignited an...

Randy Edsall should be fired — today.
I’m not perfect. There were things I could have done better. I know that
We just feel the young men that are in front of him are doing the things in those situations that are best for us, just like all the other positions
Absolutely. There is no question about that.
Going into the season, I don’t think any of each realized how much of an impact that was going to have, especially when you’re coming into a new situation ... That was something that probably had a bigger impact than what we anticipated.
All of the sudden, we could not make a play
It was really tough ... We needed to make the plays that we didn't make.
In due time, I’ll sit down and evaluate the whole season ... I think comments like that - and I don’t mind the question - but in the emotion of the game and the season, I’m one where we’re going to sit down and evaluate everything and see where we’re going to go and how we’re going to get better.
We’re looking forward ... I’m disappointed we did not win [Saturday], I’m disappointed for the seniors. I feel bad for them that they were not able to experience the things we’re going to experience with this program. They were here to help lay the foundation for what we want to do.
We’ll sit down and evaluate everything
It’s a disappointing loss ... I thought our young men played hard until the very end, and we just were not able to duplicate what we did in the first half in the second half. . . . After the first series of the second half, we just could not make anything happen on either side of the ball.
Well, I don't think when you come into a new situation you ever know exactly what could happen because you know, again, you're not around people when the real games begin ... So you find out some things. But hey, the season is what it is, and as you go along and you see things, I think that's when you k...
When you invest a lot and don’t win
I don't like to lose. But I know this: We're going to put a program in place that's going to stand the test of time. And we won't go through these times that we've had to go through this year
I don’t want to see number 10 go up there
Well, there’s no need to sugarcoat anything
I think Joe has just been a warrior, been a leader, been a guy who gets after it the way I like guys to get after it
When he’s been able to be 100 percent healthy, he’s played really well ... Now he’s back to being full strength. When he’s full strength, he’s productive and can make plays for us. He’s a guy that we missed.
Anything that probably could have gone this year has gone wrong
I hate to lose ... I don’t want to see a 10 up there (in the loss column). We’re gonna do everything we possibly can to avoid that.
To have teammates or alumni taking care of each other, that's just an amazing story.
Did we meet the expectations that I had in terms of on the field? ... No, no, we did not meet those. Is it surprising that we didn’t meet those expectations? Probably not because of all the things that have been documented. Am I discouraged? No.
But you just can’t go from the ground floor to the top floor without doing the process along the way
Here to me is the misconception: I care about these young people
