Ricky Ponting's efforts in India last month is some of the best leadership I've seen in decades
From the moment he (Hughes) was dropped in England, we have been talking about that (getting Hughes back in the side) ... There is no doubt that he has got a huge future left in him for Australia.
It happened to Punter (Ricky Ponting), Haydos, Marto (Damien Martyn), even Shane Warne got dropped at one stage. When they came back they were even better players. Michael Clarke is an example. I'm an unabashed fan of Phillip Hughes. He's fantastic. He'll be back bigger and stronger, whether it's in two...
I think a lot of it over there (England) was a bit more to do with him just being a little bit down on confidence early in the series
But it is all so far away. Right now, I am over the moon and stoked I have been given the chance to captain the Twenty20. My leader, still, is Ricky Ponting. He is a fantastic captain, a good friend and is someone I have always looked up to.I would love for him to continue to play as long as he wants. I...
Take Sachin out of the game the other night at Hyderabad and Shane was probably man of the match.
I would like to see Ricky Ponting muster the energy to go to the next Ashes and get that right. His team is going particularly well in one-dayers and it's a bit wobbly in its transition in Test cricket. I'd like to see Ricky oversee that Test team because that's where we've got work to do
Shane Watson is a good example of someone who just needed some time to find his cricket feet
But we have world-class young players as well in A. B. de Villiers and J-P Duminy, and we are not even touching the guys we know are world class: Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis. I have read that Ian Chappell compares Duminy to Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting as the next player who will bring crowds into t...
There are a lot of other teams who come to India at full but struggle to win. But we've come here with nine guys out injured and still managed to win. It is a great achievement and everyone in the team and support staff should be very proud
The support of Ricky Ponting doesn't hurt either but I just reckon what he has done in recent times (in the last Test in England and in India) plus the fact he is a senior player and I reckon all those ingredients he brings to the table (will ensure Hussey keeps his spot)
Even in Hyderabad when Sachin Tendulkar put the chase in the bucket seat we knew it was a matter of one breakthrough and it was the same in the other close matches as well
He has the hunger and the desire. Tendulkar has come back from injuries. Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting are technically sound while Brian Lara is very exciting to watch.
Every game that we've been able to give to some of these younger guys, not just through this series but through England and through the Champions Trophy, is obviously going to hold the Australian cricket team in good stead
Ricky Ponting is due to arrive back in Australia at the end of this week and will be taking a brief break before preparation for the Australian summer. He has been overseas almost constantly since May and is not due to travel internationally for the time being
One thing we always try and stress, as the more experienced players in this team, is just how much of an honour it is to get a chance to play for Australia. We really ram that home to the young guys coming in, and every young bloke I've seen come in has accepted just how big and special it is to play fo...
We would be missing Ricky Ponting about eight to nine games but in the end we need to focus on players who would be available full time for the entire season.

When we lose Ricky Ponting it will be as dramatic an impact as Shane Warne. Ricky’s shoes are massive shoes to fill
I cannot be any more proud from this group, they have got together, they have put their best game together to win the series. It's really a positive thing for Australian cricket. We are coming back to India to play World Cup, whatever exposure the youngsters get will be a positive for them
The side has done really well. No one ever gives Ricky Ponting a wrap so I will
We have won a lot of series here in India. But this one (series triumph) will be up there with some of the specials that I played in, including our Champions Trophy and World Cup wins
India's bold ambition to send Ricky Ponting's men home without the number one ranking proved hollow with Australia's six-wicket victory sealing the series and one-day bragging rights
I've made no secret that I'm a bit worried about some of the attitudes of younger players … with the amount of money that's around in Champions League and IPL
