Andy's record as a coach is outstanding and he'll do some very good things with Scotland
David had an outstanding game and was deservedly man of the match in Dublin but he did get knocked around a bit ... Because of that, we decided it was prudent to give him a complete breather at this point. We’re in the fortunate position of having George in form and ready to go. Everyone is working real...
They're down, they're frustrated that Ireland escaped, which is what happened
It's a game we cruised and probably should have won ... That Ireland was still within seven points was the crucial element. We had the opportunity to get beyond that. You leave the door ajar, then they've got the personnel to come back and save their skins.
Ireland were a step up on England
Yeah, no doubt ... Ireland was a step up from England. But we went conservative today. We went very narrow.
Yeah, no doubt ... Ireland was a step up from England. But we went conservative today. We went very narrow.
Yeah, clearly it’s a game we probably could have, should have won here ... Essentially the fact that Ireland were still within seven points was critical. How we ended up in the position and failed to get beyond that with the maturity and belief that this side has . . . We had enough opportunities to get...
What that showed was that we are still living consciously and, essentially in rugby, it has to be instinctive ... That is something you tend to build over time and what was better about our game against England, after we had put ourselves under early pressure, was our composure, and winning helps player...
The game in Ireland is on a massive high at the moment
Hopefully, that experience will contribute to an inner belief and resolve to keep going ... Still, there's no doubt that this Ireland Test will be another step up. These guys are grand-slam champions, Heineken Cup champions and they are playing at Croke Park. But that should help us in our preparation i...
We did read a fair bit of our own press after Brisbane this year and it bit us.
We held composure in the second half, we kept threatening in attack which sapped England and we didn't become frantic before the moment came (with the late Adam Ashley-Cooper try)
We had a sense it was coming but previously we hadn’t always shown patience and belief. We used a bit of nous that the field position told. Our defence was good. England threw everything at us and the boys stood up to the test really well.
England threw everything at us. They tried everything. They tried width, they tried the short route, they tried to turn us and the boys stood up to that test really well. I'm very proud
Saturday is the toughest game because it's England at Twickenham - that's the way it is ... We'll have to earn everything we get.
He essentially won England the Rugby World Cup, so inevitably there will be a lot of expectation ... We believe England will be more dangerous with Jonny.
He essentially won England the World Cup, so inevitably there will be a lot of expectation
George Smith was always in the back of our minds
This stands alone, there's nothing in it at this level. England are playing at home this weekend, they will expect to win.
His influence on his peers will be valuable in terms of the confidence he'll bring to them (England)
We will do but I imagine he's not changed a lot ... We expect England to be at their best and for Jonny to contribute to that.
The introduction of Jonny Wilkinson has brought a lot more certainty to England's game than anything that came out of South Africa
The most critical element that has happened to England since the summer is the introduction of Jonny ... That has brought a lot more certainty to the English game than anything that came out of the Lions tour to South Africa. He'll bring a lot of shape to England's game and his influence on his peers wi...
