Hayes opened the White House grounds on Easter to local children. Since November 01, 1800 when US President John Adams became the first resident in the Executive Mansion to the War of 1812 when the British burned the structure and its eventual reconstruction would earn it the name White House, to the Civil War, World War I, the 1930�s depression, World War II, the Cold and Vietnam War, Watergate, Reaganomics, and the 9/11 attacks 1600 Pennsylvania has been the coveted finish line for presidential candidates promising change every four years.
