View Photo »We had a great year ... Anytime you get to the World Series, it's a great year. Making the World Series isn't guaranteed.
I went to Phillies games in the days when Pete Rose was there, and that just stuck with me. I'm sticking with the Phillies and (first baseman) Ryan Howard and (outfielder) Jayson Werth. My dad is a die-hard Yankees fan, so we don't talk too much about baseball.
We had a great year ... Anytime you get to the World Series, it's a great year. Making the World Series isn't guaranteed.
His improvement in the last two years has been phenomenal ... I don't remember seeing one player improving so much over time. It's been very limited action because he's been in the National League. But he's not only the slugger Ryan Howard, now he's a great-hitter-with-great-power Ryan Howard.
We knew it was going to be a knock-'em-down, drag-'em-out World Series
Diehard baseball fans have a rare opportunity to see the entire series as both ballparks are within driving distance along I-95. Appearances by MLB superstars Alex Rodriquez and Ryan Howard are expected to sell out stadiums
Obviously they have a lot of the star power in their lineup and all the hype that goes along with being Yankees ... We're from Philadelphia.
I love the Phillies story lines ... I hope it works out where it's Pedro Martinez coming back to the Bronx and if there's an athlete in baseball who I really love to see on the big stage and get more exposure it's Ryan Howard. He seems to be a great kid and a heck of a ballplayer.
It's going to be, I would have to say, one of the rowdiest World Series, just between the fans ... Because playing here against the Mets, the Mets fans tend to get pretty rowdy. But it'll be interesting to see how the Yankees fans are when we're here. And we know exactly how Philly fans are back in Phil...
that leaps to my mind is Ryan Howard and Jimmie Foxx. Both are the greatest power-hitting first basemen in Philadelphia baseball history with no one coming in a close second.

It was beforehand, and winning the World Series was that icing on the cake ... That's what everybody is playing for, but the chemistry that we have on this team ... it's one of the greatest teams that I've ever played on.
To be able to make it to this point again, definitely something very special, because a World Series isn't guaranteed to anybody
We didn’t give up ... It feels great. Right now we’re just trying to soak it all in. We’ll just celebrate and get ready for Los Angeles. This is just step two of where we are trying to go.
He wants to be that guy ... That's the reason why he's got Cy Young awards and World Series championship rings. He likes to be in these situations.
Sometimes it's going to happen ... I think the key in Colorado will be for us to try and get ahead early.
Now we have to go to Colorado ... and try to right the ship.
It's cool to play Colorado, and I think it's going to be a good series ... Yeah, you don't forget what happened two years ago. They came in and beat us. I remember what happened in 2007, but now I'm focused on 2009.
