Martin Brodeur’s bid to tie Terry Sawchuk’s career shutout record fell short, but Brodeur was able to hold off a late Rangers attack, including a key save on Sean Avery, to give the Devils a victory.

Sean Avery's not in our book
Artem Anisimov is in a different situation. The expectations won’t be the same as those on Matt Gilroy and Michael Del Zotto, and in fact I wouldn’t be shocked if he shuffled to Hartford and back from time to time if his minutes dwindle, especially after Sean Avery gets back.
Sean Avery didn't work out and became a disruption for the entire team ... The things that followed … it was just a real tough year all the way around.
