As far as this upcoming week, in terms of quarterback, Alex Smith will be the quarterback ... As far as 'Will Shaun Hill be back?' and all this other stuff...we're not going to be a flavor of the month kind of team. I wanted to make the decision based on who gives us the best chance to win.

Shaun Hill is exactly what the San Francisco 49er football team needs at the quarterback position.
In the NFL, rosters change. They can change every week ... Guys are in, guys are out. That's nothing new to have a little bit of change like that. It wouldn't be any different than anybody else coming in and joining the team late. That happens in the NFL.
He's not a household name ... If you asked the average football fan who's their quarterback, they'd probably say Alex Smith. But it's Shaun Hill. He's nothing flashy. He's not going to wow you. ... He doesn't have a lot of hype coming in. He's a journeyman. But he wins. He gets the job done.

Hopefully we don't have to have a quarterback here in position to just take us and put us on his back and take us down the field ... I believe that what he's doing right now has been good enough the first two games. ... We're going to have to run the ball, and as we run the ball and Shaun Hill makes som...
It would have been nice to have left there 3-0, but we didn't get it done ... We turn the page on that and move forward. The only thing in my notebook right now says St. Louis. It's not easy, but the good teams bounce back. We'll find out a lot about ourselves if we can put this behind us and move forwa...
For what Arizona was doing, they decided they were going to blitz and stunt, I was proud of the fact that Shaun Hill was able to lead a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter when you had to have it ... I thought he did a great job.
He is a very intense leader ... The thing I think everybody appreciates about him is he's 100 percent up front and honest. If he has something to say to you he's going to say it. You don't have to worry about where you stand, he will tell you. That's not always the case in the NFL.
Frank Gore, the epicenter of the offense, is not on the list, nor is cornerback Nate Clements. Shaun Hill, who as quarterback is ostensibly the face of the team, also is not a captain. Singletary picked the captains himself. They were not voted on by the team.
It was the last game of the year. We played Chicago at home
Obviously, there are things we need to improve on ... But the main thing is that we left Arizona with a 1-0 record.
