The Sounders FC coach remains at Overlake, I am told. I would imagine he'll watch the game on TV assuming the rooms get ESPN. Wishing him a speedy recovery and quick exit from the hospital, as I'm sure many of you are too. Full Article at The Seattle Times

You want to get the ball moving a little quicker because you don't have as much time on the ball [playing at Robertson] ... Houston likes to get tight, so we need to get the ball off our feet a little sooner, and get the ball played into our strikers a little faster.
To be honest, early in the game in the first 10 minutes I think we showed a little bit of nerves, mainly nerves because of the change with Tyrone right before the game ... Even though we have complete confidence in Patrick Ianni, and Patrick played very well, still it's a last-minute change.
We want to give our fans an opportunity to come out again ... That means we’ve got to go down to Houston and win.
They’ve been the dominant team in the Western Conference the last three, four years – or even further, if you count their days in San Jose ... And we’re the new kids on the block, trying to get people to take notice of us. They don’t want to give away any of their prestige, and we’re trying to take some...
We see a lot of each other so there gets to be some chippy and intense battles ... But I think it’s a good competition, a good rivalry, because they’ve been a dominant team in the Western Conference. … We’re the new kids on the block and we’re trying to have people take notice of us. They don’t want to ...
We hit the crossbar on the header. We had lots of balls that were close. Home or away, we're going to the get same opportunities ... They're a good team. They're going to battle and fight. I feel confident we can do the job in Houston as well.
They have been the dominant team in the Western Conference for a number of years now. They’re a veteran team. They know how to get to championship games and they have done it before ... So we are the new kids on the block. We are the upstarts.
It’s always going to be just a little more difficult because we don’t have the history to lean on ... We don’t have the combined experiences as a group. Even though individually some guys have had successes and won MLS Cups on their old teams and doing it in different ways or in Europe and so forth. But...
It probably makes sense not to fly back to Houston on Monday and turn around and fly back (to Seattle) on Wednesday
Houston is a quality team ... They have been there year after year for the last three or four years, and eventually if you want to win the championship you have to beat whoever is thrown in front of you. They are the ones that are there, and they’re our challenge.
You approach it like it’s one big long game with the first 90 minutes in Seattle and the second 90 minutes in another city ... My concerns are just when you are at home first you want to get a good result. Some teams put too much pressure on themselves when they are at home for the first game. They push...
It should be a wide-open game ... Dallas will probably push forward, and we really don’t think about not having scored at home in a while. It’s all about continuing to create opportunities. And we owe our fans some goals, so hopefully we will get some goals this weekend.
The scenario was different when Chicago did it because the league was a lot younger. I'm proud of our team, and I'm proud of what we've accomplished ... I still think we can play better soccer, but that's just me. I always think we can play better soccer. We showed a lot of desire, a lot of will power, ...
Depending on what happens on Thursday between Chivas [USA] and Chicago, everything is in there for us ... We could be first place or we could be fourth place in the West. That's a great position to be in as an expansion team this late in the season.
It's nice to be in control of your own destiny ... You don't have to hope that we will win and they will lose and they will lose, which is sort of what Kansas City has. It's always a lot better to be in the position that we are in where let's just win and we are there. The only scoreboard we need to wat...
I think people forget how tough it is to be an expansion team ... From Day One, because we started off well, I don’t think we’ve ever really been viewed as an expansion team. What Chicago did in ’98 was tremendous, and nothing to be taken away from that. But it also was at a stage where the league was o...
I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far as an expansion team – winning the Open Cup, establishing a winning record, being in the playoff hunt ... Because all the expansion teams since Chicago, with the exception of Miami, nobody has even been in the playoff hunt at this late stage. Our goal is obvio...
We’ve got 41 now, which was important for us to get (into the playoffs) ... It also gets us on the backs of L.A. (and Houston), so there’s still a chance we can finish second out West, which is something we’d like to do.
I hope the initial reaction before the game begins is a positive one because I have a lot of fond memories of Columbus ... But I know that when the whistle blows they are going to be pro-Columbus and I am going to be pro-Seattle.
What (Hunt) did in Columbus by doing the first soccer-specific stadium was set the wheels in motion for the Home Depot Centers of the world, and Red Bull Arena (in the New York City area) as it comes up, and Rio Tinto (in Utah) and all the other stadiums that are in the league now
If you look at the bruises on Montero, he got bruised pretty good ... But certainly (discipline) is something for U.S. Soccer to decide. I know D.C. United came out and said there is going to be an internal punishment. They haven’t said what that is yet. But those are their problems. I’ll focus on my te...
