View Photo »I played with Tomas Holmstrom and Darren McCarty in the '98 playoffs and we were kind of a, I don't want to call it a checking line, but we weren't a high-scoring explosive line
It's like choosing between Pavel Bure and Steve Yzerman.
We really had balanced scoring ... I think at the end of the day, that was the difference playing Colorado, then ultimately against Carolina.
I was pretty sure Steve Yzerman was going to get in and I thought Brian Leetch had an excellent chance so we booked the package in January, long before they announced the inductees in June ... We've got tickets to the induction ceremony and the Legends game on Sunday, plus the Red Wings against the Mapl...
I played two pre-tournament games in Montreal and Minnesota and had no swelling. I told Wayne (Gretzky, Olympic team boss)I was fine, then the first tournament game it got sore against Sweden. Then, against Germany, the knee became really painful and it just progressed
This is Steve Yzerman's team ... Steve will reach out to (Wayne) when he's needed.

I like everything about his game and that's what makes him, I think, the No. 1 pick next year ... He reminds me a lot of Steve Yzerman. He's definitely offensively gifted but he's responsible in his own end… I think his overall package is second to none.
Nicklas Lidstrom won the Stanley Cup in 2002. He won the Cup in 2008. I don't know how many Norris trophies he's won, but throughout that entire time, throughout the entire decade, where he's only missed a handful of games, he was the Red Wings' best player
She had posters of Steve Yzerman and the 'Russian Five' on the walls of the classroom and we talked about hockey all the time ... Before ... that class, all I knew was soccer.
I thought the Western Conference was interesting enough already without Dany
He's been a part of some very successful NHL teams for a long time going back to his days with the Islanders and being one of the guys that put together a dynasty there and was an important part of this organization and remains an important part to this day
