The guys I’m staying with, Kieren Horn and Jarrad Howse, I’ve gone out surfing with them and they showed me where to sit ... I kind of had an idea of where to go. I didn’t feel that lost out there. I knew which waves to go on: the ones that looked like a peak, not a huge wall on it.

View Photo »I'm loving Canada ... The views and terrain are breathtaking. I'm from cold weather too, so surfing in a wetsuit is fine with me and I think it's a bit of an advantage for me, surfing in a wetsuit all of the time. I'm having a great time and I just have to keep progressing through the rounds.
In San Diego, we have surfing, water activities, beach activities, biking…some of those things are very difficult to do with glasses and contact lenses. And the enjoyment that people get out of doing (these activities) without glasses and contact lenses sometimes is overwhelming.
Two years ago, I was in a pinch for a Halloween costume, so I threw on my wet suit and went to school as a surfer. But, I\'m pretty thin and all day people came up to me saying how creative my surfboard outfit was!\
This year's event is a really special occasion for us because it's the first time we have united all of Surfrider's Hawaii chapters together ... The Award Ceremony is in memory of John Kelly, one of the greatest surfers and environmental activists Hawaii has ever produced. The event honors ocean-lovers ...
I never thought I’d end up surfing in Canada ... It has such a beautiful landscape and there are fun waves here. I’m stoked to be here for the contest and hope I can continue to surf well in the next round.
It’s definitely a big adjustment coming from Hawaii ... I ended up surfing a swell right before I left with 80 degree weather, so coming straight to the cold weather, and wearing a wetsuit restricts you on a wave, but I’m stoked to get through after the long journey.
I’ve been surfing the cold water over the last few weeks ... I was up in Northern California for a bit and got used to the booties, so I’m feeling pretty comfortable.
From Straddie to Bali, this year's Challenge brought the top juniors to some of the best waves in the world ... Long waiting periods, epic conditions, man-on-man heats and progressive surfing made the Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge stops the most exciting contests of the year. We lived up to the hyp...
I used to do lots of 'QS events and now I'm more focused on my free surfing career ... I took that approach out in the water with me today. I didn't want to just do safe turns to the beach. That's not how I like to surf and surfing how I normally do when I'm not competing seemed to work out there for me...

In 1972, I decided I was going to be a surfer after watching Chris' brother, Sam, surf ... In 1981, I contacted Chris. He made some boards for me. He was not just a board shaper, he was a craftsman.
I got off to a good start ... The waves kind of suited me so I was just free surfing and kept improving wave by wave. A few waves came my way so I got into a good rhythm and ended up sneaking into a barrel. There were great waves out there and I’m stoked we moved it over to Lagido today.
I’m just stoked to be part of such a big event and to see some of the best surfers in the world surf the waves I’ve grown up on and see what they can do
We have no choice in where the Internet is going; we have to get on the surfboard and ride the wave and not crash on the beach
Steamer Lane is a world-class wave ... It's a very powerful, long perfect point break that can produce barrels, big air sections and lots of high-performance surfing. It's a great thing to have a 6-Star Prime WQS event on my home break.
When I was at University I was invited to the British Pro Tournament in England and realised I wasn't interested in contest surfing, it was the big waves that I was interested in
It's also a surf town. The first time we played in Europe, we found out that it was the biggest surfing community there, so we've gone back every time since then. I usually walk into the surf shop and rent a wet suit and surfboard when we're there.
And what we'll do as a team and as a franchise is you get on board or you get a surfboard and go to Hawaii. So that's it.
You'd be able to get on the train in West Palm Beach with your surfboard for 5 bucks, get off in downtown Cocoa Beach, hop on a trolley and go surfing
a bunch of Porsche-driving, starlet-chasing, cocaine-sniffing, surfboard-waxing, Armani-wearing, spritzer-drinking, sunshine-soaking, tofu-eating, leg-hair-waxing, sunglasses-wearing weinies [sic]
Stand on the Balance Board and ride the waves across the globe! With simple controls, players will find high speeds in Watercraft racing, big jumps in Kite Boarding, and long rails in Wind Surfing.
I’m so happy to again make the final of this fantastic event ... I really hope I can go one better and win tomorrow. My surfing has been getting better each heat and I feel really good surfing such a perfect wave like Keramas.
I can't believe it ... I've been in the Final in this event three times and I finally won. I was feeling really confident. The waves here today were like the waves in Brazil and I'm always surfing in these conditions. The final was really good. Steph (Gilmore) got some good waves too and I was able to g...
A smart party like the Democrats in 2006 got as many credible candidates as possible so that, when the wave hit, they had surfers in the water to take advantage of it ... This is true up and down the ballot.
We had some surfers in the vicinity and some swimmers and just as a precaution we got them to get out of the water
