Terrence Vance Gilliam (born 22 November 1940) is an American-born British writer, filmmaker, animator and member of the Monty Python comedy troupe. Gilliam is also known for directing several well-regarded films including Brazil (1985), Twelve Monkeys (1995), and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). Full Article

I read somewhere that Terry Gilliam one time said, the best experiences he ever had were ‘Fisher King’ and ‘12 Monkeys,’ because they could put him in the corner, but they couldn’t put him, Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt in a corner, or they couldn’t put him, Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges in a corner.
You just sit there and watch the explosions
Terry is one of the last true auteurs. His profound influence on an entire generation of filmmakers is all too apparent. He is a madman, in the finest possible way. Ultimately, there are few directors willing to garrote themselves so wholeheartedly in the name of artistic integrity.
