There's so much action in sport, so much detail, so much emotion . . . HD really brings it alive. Whereas an episode of The Simpsons or NCIS isn't that much different.
There were strong feelings from the show's early staff that Matt Groening had been too well rewarded, to the detriment of Sam Simon, who it seems was the real guiding force of the writers' room, and that The Simpsons that we know and love is really a writer's show
