Rumors abounded, in the Twin Cities yesterday on the afternoon drive home from work, that University of Minnesota Coach Tim Brewster was going to leave to go to either Kansas. My first thought was, "What could the Jayhawks possibly be thinking?" Full Article at Bleacher Report
It's not clear whether or not Minnesota Gophers Tim Brewster is a serious contender for the Kansas job, but from the sounds of the Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi he might need to be. Full Article at AOL Sports
It's unfortunate that unsubstantiated, unfounded rumors circulate in the coaching profession this time of the year ... I'm not a candidate for any other job. I've got the job that I want. And I'm going to be here a long time. I think our kids understand. Last year, the same thing came up with Tennessee.
would be linked to the job is surprising, considering the Gophers have an overall 14-23 record during his tenure, although he is a highly regarded recruiter. remaining years. Full Article at TwinCities.com

There are rumors that he's going to Kansas, so I don't know ... What can I say? So I can't guarantee it, no. I can't guarantee the decisions of other people.
Taking on an up-and-coming Iowa State program will be a tremendous challenge
I think we're in pretty good shape ... We had a number of guys out last week, but I don't anticipate anybody missing the Iowa game.
Two of the most meaningful games, to play them back to back is a tough deal ... I was pleased with the fact that we played Wisconsin earlier in the year and we finished the season with Iowa.
We know exactly what happened last year ... Obviously, Iowa was much better than us the day we played them. They played an outstanding game, and we did not play well. But that was last year. This is a whole new year. It's a totally different team.
He's an outstanding player ... They've got a number of guys that I think are really good players from the state of Minnesota. South Dakota State has done a really good job of bringing Minnesota kids over there to their program.

I think our players understand that South Dakota State is a really good football team, just like we knew that North Dakota State was a very good football team ... So I don't see that as being an issue. And, again, the big thing for us is this is an opportunity for us. That would be part of a victory on ...
South Dakota State certainly has our attention ... We understand how excited they're going to be to play. But understand we're going to be very excited to play.
I feel the same way [now] ... I don't know how much it benefits the University of Minnesota to play South Dakota State. ... Again, as I've said, I'd like to see nonconference scheduling help us in recruiting. So I'm not certain how much it'll help us in recruiting.
I'm talking about winning at a championship level ... There is no question that we are going to get it done. We are a 5-4 football team with a great opportunity to go to a bowl game this year. I think there is tremendous progress in this program, both on and off the field. I couldn't be stronger in my b...
I think the state of Minnesota is really excited about getting back outdoors ... We're going to embrace being outside, and hopefully we're going to have some cold, snowy days where our opponent is going to come in there and they're not going to like it as much as we're going to like it, because we're go...

I don't think I need to comment right now on the Big Ten officiating ... I think that might be the wrong thing to do.
Two football teams that are trying to find their place in the Big Ten standings
We've come off the road and played probably the two best teams in the Big Ten ... And we're excited about a three-game homestand. I don't look at it as being a watershed game. I think that's sensational. I look at it as an opportunity for us to play at home. ... We're a 4-4 football team that has done a...
Ohio State turned the ball over four or five times last week against Purdue and lost on the road ... It's a recipe for disaster to go on the road in the Big Ten and turn the ball over.
Ohio State turned the ball over four or five times last week against Purdue and lost on the road ... It's a recipe for disaster to go on the road in the Big Ten and turn the ball over.
He's a kid who's been down the road ... He's played at a very high competition level. He's played in a lot of games, won a lot of games at Ohio State. It would be really hard for me to categorize him as vulnerable.
I don't know that there's going to be added motivation because they lost ... I've said from the beginning, on any given Saturday, anybody can beat anybody in the Big Ten. I think that's how this thing is shaking down.
Our goal is to take the Gopher Nation to Pasadena
Special teams continues to be just an excellent area for us in all phases ... John Butler deserves a great deal of credit. Our players and how they bought into special teams being such an important part of the game for us has really been exciting.
I think we got excellent play from our defensive tackles in the game against Wisconsin ... We didn't do a good job on the edge of our defense as we needed to do, particularly with the support and that type of thing.
