That's the good thing about the NBA ... You get a tough loss the night before and you get an opportunity to come back the next night and change the outcome. Once we lost that one, we kind of forgot about it, got on the plane and got here and we got some good rest. We game back and got a win today.
And as Jim said Sunday night, one of those was the choice not to keep pursuing Trevor Ariza — instead turning to get Ron Artest. Jim Buss called Artest “a bargain” for the Lakers at the mid-level exception, which is pretty much accurate. Full Article at The Orange County Register

I nominate Ron Artest for throwing Trevor Ariza's shoe off the court. Backyardstyle. But, y'know, Karma is a bitch.

They have a history, when those guys (Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady) go down, of playing better ... When those guys come back, we have a real good chance to compete for a championship.
He's the real deal. He reminds me a little bit of Trevor Ariza (who shined for the Los Angeles Lakers in last year's NBA Playoffs). The guy can downright shoot the ball. And he's really willing to listen and learn.
I think (Houston is) the best place for me ... I think I have more of an opportunity here.
Trevor Ariza has a lot of experience ... He's young but he has experience—and he has a ring and I think that will help us a lot this year.
Everybody, I think, in the NBA can score ... It's just that I didn't really need to do that in L.A., and I never really had an opportunity to do it anywhere else. Now I'm getting my opportunity.
It's always the glue guys. Those are the pieces that win championships. For example us picking up Trevor Ariza. Shannon Brown.
For me, previously, I had those two big seven-footers (Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol) that were getting all the rebounds ... My job was to get out and run. You have to recondition your brain to do something else.
Just a couple of months ago I was not the veteran, I was looking up to older guys. Here I still do look up to older guys and you can even pick stuff up from younger guys. I've been through every situation possible in the NBA, so maybe I can teach the younger guys something because of what I've been thro...
