The international community needs to rally behind the United Nations Security Council resolution that is being discussed over the next few days in Ney York
If there are issues that exist between our countries, whether it be the United States, Canada and Mexico, or other nations with whom we have engaged and ratified solemn treaties, the best way to do that is not in a unilateral fashion.
We appeal to the United Nations that having no active role on the Tibetan question is dangerous for its own integrity. Therefore, the UN should immediately convene a special session on the Tibet problem and send a team to ascertain the truth by investigating allegations and counter-allegations (of the Tibetans and the Chinese government)
I also feel that Mugabe is doing more -- I hope I'm wrong -- than winning a deeply flawed presidential runoff. I think he's also getting revenge against his own people, possibly even attempting to wipe out the opposition once and for all in the rural areas, because he has gone back to very much a war footing in the rural areas.
I think the position in the rural areas is very different because Mugabe's intimidation has absolutely run riot there
I think even if he had stayed in, the playing field was so unlevel -- he wasn't being allowed to campaign, he wasn't being allowed to hold rallies, he wasn't being able to advertise -- the whole thing was a farce. It already wasn't an election
When you vote in Zimbabwe your finger is dyed with an indelible dye and the worry is these mobs will go around after the election checking to see that everybody has this dye and if they don't they'll be beaten up or worse.
