I never got into the last year of a contract ... I always remained No. 1 or 2 [in manager salary] because Los Angeles wanted Tommy [Lasorda] to be the highest-paid. No, I'm not bitter at Denkinger ... He's a good guy, he knows he made a mistake, and he's a human being. It happened at an inopportune time but I do think they ought to have instant replay in the playoffs and World Series.
