View Photo »We wanted to choose a name that reflects our core values -- literally the belief in finding one’s own direction or ‘true North.’ We also wanted a unique name with the kind of memorable identity as Google, Twitter, Yahoo, or eBay. Pyxism fits the bill completely.
What remains is that both Yahoo and Microsoft cannot afford to not also acquire either Millennial Media or Quattro Wireless, given that Google and Admob's combined revenue will be more than twice that of Yahoo's and three times that of Microsoft's

They've got a real challenge to communicate their brand's positioning, which is clearly not as well defined or as strong as Yahoo, Microsoft or Google ... In the trade, that AOL brand probably isn't living up to the product.
It's not Google is lessening its performance, it's that Yahoo and Bing have increased their performance capabilities ... Advertising follows audience and spend follows results. We're simply following the results.

We have other relationships with eBay, Amazon, Yahoo, and Canonical which provide some revenue, though not on the scale of our Google relationship. Of course, the top priority in all our financial agreements is ensuring that they do not impede our mission, or our freedom to be consistent with the values...
Advertisers are waiting to see what will happen to the user-interface and the performance of the new combined business before committing significant new budget increases ... Ironically, the uncertainty of the limbo in the Microsoft deal may actually be driving more marginal advertisers toward 'market le...

Microsoft has good reason to try to esta...

As Microsoft grows, Yahoo implodes.
We will not see the Facebook, Gmail, or Yahoo of mobile until this changes
With both Google and Microsoft taking share from Yahoo, it is difficult to pinpoint the reason for the recent share loss acceleration, but Yahoo must find a way to stabilize its share loss or all the effort spent negotiating terms of the search deal will be the least of its worries
