N.C. State has a good program and a good coach ... We have those things going for us. That's what made this increasingly difficult. It will be tought for me to wear blue, but I've always said I love Zach more than I love N.C. State or Duke.
We need to be more consistent with our stating pitching ... It's obvious. It's been a sore spot for us the last couple weeks. We're showing signs of improvement. Ian [Snell] is throwing the ball a little better. Zach [Duke] threw the ball well for three innings [Sunday]. We have to be able to put it together for a complete start. I expect the same thing out of John. He needs to give us some quality innings and get deeper in the game.
Because this guy is tough against left-handers and Dunn has hit him pretty good and Griffey hasn't. Just trying to find a way to get some right-handers in the lineup and Griffey will be back in there tomorrow. The guy tomorrow (Zach Duke) has been tough on Dunn ... Like I said, I'll be mixing and matching to have the best lineup in there for that day.
All in all, he's been very consistent ... What he's done and what Zach (Duke) has done, it's been kind of lost a little bit. I think they've both been very consistent for us.
The people have spoken and Zach Duke has prevailed ... It's a great opportunity to honor the first Pirate major leaguer to play in State College.
We need to try and finish strong before the break ... We need to go home and win some games so we can go into the break and not dig ourselves into a hole.
It's on me today. The offense battled back to get me back in the lead, and I still couldn't hold it.
I think if you set the tone differently, then it plays out differently ... I allowed them to get settled in and take good hacks. You just can't do that.
We never had any real momentum this series ... It just seemed like we were always either fighting to get back in it or giving it away. And that's why this road trip felt so long. It just wears you out going out there every inning having to scramble like that.
We played pretty well in Cincinnati, but we came here and they beat up on us pretty well ... They swung the bats very well.
